Excursions

CTO Events Company offers the opportunity of daily sightseeing excursions. The tours may be organized repeatedly in the course of the Conference for all the participants to have the opportunity to spend the leisure time with great pleasure and to their benefit.

The choice of the excursions will be up to the participants who will be offered the complete list in advance. Moscow with its centuries-long history is glad to show off its beauty.

Evening Moscow

Shop windows are shining, restaurants and night clubs invite to drop in with gleaming lights, not very noticeable at daytime objects transform in the rays of building illumination. Moscow becomes stylish and enigmatic. During the excursion you will see St. Basil’s Cathedral, admire the view of the Kremlin from the Sofiyskaya Embankment and Moscow panorama from the Sparrow Hills, and visit the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, Novodevichiy Convent, Poklonnaya Hill, New Arbat, Tverskoy Boulevard, Theatre Square. Tretyakov Gallery

Третьяковская галерея.jpgThe State Tretyakov Gallery, founded in the 19th century by a merchant and textile manufacturer Pavel Mikhailovich Tretyakov - a national museum of the Russian fine arts of the 10th – 20th centuries, possessing one of the greatest Russia’s collections of masterpieces of the Russian fine arts.


Kremlin and Cathedrals

Кремль и соборы.jpgThe Moscow Kremlin is a unique architectural ensemble. It is famous for the ancient Sobornaya (Cathedral’s) Square and cathedrals situated there: Cathedral of the Annunciation; Assumption Cathedral where Russian tsars and emperors were crowned; Cathedral of the Archangel was a burial place for Grand Princes; Church of the Deposition of the Robe; the Patriarch’s Chambers; Ivan the Great Bell Tower. The world-famous Tsar Cannon and Tsar Bell became symbols of Moscow, and at Senate Square one can see the buildings of Arsenal (monument of architecture of Peter the Great times) and the former Senate. The Great Kremlin Palace ensemble, situated on Dvortsovaya Square, used to be a residence of Russian tsars and emperors; nowadays it is a residence of Russian President.


Armory Chamber

Кремль и соборы.jpgThe world famous museum-treasury occupies specially constructed for it in the middle of the 19th century building. It has a unique collection of ancient state regalia, gold and silver utensils, Tzars apparels and sacerdotal robes, weapons, luxury carriages and harness.


Cathedral of the Protecting Veil of the Mother of God (St. Basil’s Cathedral)

Покровский Собор.jpgThe St. Basil’s Cathedral (the Cathedral of St. Vasily the Blessed) is an orthodox cathedral, situated on Red Square. It has another name – the Cathedral of the Protecting Veil of the Mother of God, and it is one of the most famous sights of Russia. Many people consider it to be the symbol of Moscow and the Russian Federation. The Cathedral of the Protecting Veil of the Mother of God was built in the 16th century on the order of Ivan the Terrible to commemorate the seizure of Kazan and the victory over the Kazan Khanate. Nowadays the exposition of the Cathedral has more than 300 pieces of ancient Russian painting and applied arts. A big part of icon collection embellishes the iconostases of the Cathedral’s churches. Besides, the interiors of the churches display such masterpieces of the 17th century icon painting as “The Vision of Tarasiy the Sacristan” and “Hagiography of Alexander Nevsky”.


Novodevichy Convent

Новодевичий монастырь.jpgThe Convent was founded by Vasiliy III in 1524 in honor of return of the lands of Smolensk town to Russia. Strategic location to the southeast of Moscow near a passable part of the Moskva River determined the Convent’s significance as a fortress playing role in important events of the Russian history. The museum of the Convent has a big collection of Russian icons, jewelry, embroidery and books of the 16th – 17th centuries. Many prominent Russian government and public officials were buried in the necropolis of the Convent.
